The Sherlockian Map Project!

The goal of this project is to have Sherlock fans from around the world to add themselves to a group map, allowing everyone to easily get in touch with other fans who live near them.

The map can be found here. To add yourself to the map:

1. Sign up to become a member of the site.
2. Click the ‘Add a Marker’ button and click on your city to place the marker.
3. Choose an icon from the ‘Categories’ drop down menu.
4. Place your Tumblr URL in the ‘Description’ box so other Sherlockians know where they can contact you.

Also, this should go without saying, but please don’t put your specific home address on this map - just the city where you live. Safety and all that.

The story of my People - A Tribute to Tumblr and the Sherlock Fandom

Dear Children,

I will tell you a story now of a magical place. It used to exist a long time ago. When I was still young.

It really was an extraordinary place. Floating out there in cyberspace – far away from reality.

Its name was Tumblr.

Tumblr was beautiful. All sorts of people used to live there peacefully together.

It was all trolling and vomiting rainbows and unicorns.

And then there were the different fandoms. Thousands of people all worshipping the same thing. Every fandom had its ups and downs but they always laughed and suffered together.

There was the Supernatural Fandom and the Glee Fandom, the Misfits and the Hobbit Fandom. And of course also the Doctor Who fandom. Sometimes they overlapped and new crossovers were born but they always coexisted in peace.

Now, one of the fandoms I belonged to – and deep in my heart still do – was the Sherlock fandom. The fandom who waited.

The Sherlockians. How shall I describe them to you?

They were amazingly talented and funny and sometimes a bit weird but always very lovely and enthusiastic. They shipped everything. Sheets. Riding crops. Canes. Lamps. Once even two pools! Those were crazy times but I wouldn’t miss them for the world.

We worshipped the great Godtiss and cursed the Moff together.

The Great Cumberlord and Mr. Freehand were our saints. They gave us never-ending material for our daily dose of Sherlock and in return we loved and protected them as good as we could. They were our babies.

Maybe we were junkies – but we regretted nothing. Everything was Sherlock and nothing hurt.

It was an amazing time we had. We grew and spread across the world. We took over Omegle and Twitter and a bit of Facebook too.

No Fandom had ever risen higher. But we were doomed.

On the 15^th of January 2012 came the Fall.

We fell so deep…

That day marked the beginning of the end of the Sherlock Fandom. It was the day when silence fell over the fields of Tumblr.

All lives end. All hearts are broken.

Oh and our hearts were broken. They were splintered in a million tiny pieces and where scattered all over the earth. We suffered more than any living creature in the universe.

That was the great Fall. But this isn’t the end of our story.

The Fandom may have ended but it wasn’t the end of the Sherlockians.

Some of them are still out there.

If you want to find them, go to a public place and play the song of our people. Stayin’ Alive.

At the sound of this song, some heads will turn around. Some lips will smile. They will remember. Because it doesn’t matter how much they hurt us that day. It doesn’t matter that they tore us apart. Because they won’t be able to stop us remembering. We will forever remember this time. For it was the best of times. And the greatest of fandoms.
